(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 25. Tho articles of the crew of the steam-
er Maori expired to-day by effluxio.l or time. When tho men signed off and v.o:o invited to sign on again, they demanded two days' pay, one for to-day an being the concluding day of tho terminated contract, and one for to-day as boine: tho first day of the new contract. Tho Union Company were compelled to -; eld to the demand to enable 'the Maori to run to time-table. It appears that previous to 1911 the Shipping .and Seamen's Act provided for two days' pay under su^h circumstances, but an amendment passed in 1911 provides for only one day's nay.
