Steamers representing an aggregate tonnage of 2200 were berthed at the town wharf yesterday, and the wharf labourers, limitedi n number, were kept busy. The Awahou is to leave this port this morning for Blackhead, on the easfrh coast, where she loads wool for TVsji*> injrton. ,•/„ Captain S. Holm, of' the s leam£jr\ -lohn, came ashore at Wellington oh : Thursday, and his father. Captain F. Holm, took command of the vessel. | Mr J. Knox, the second officer, signed off the articles the same day. Messrs A. Hatrick and Co., Ltd., advise that the Kapiti arrived yesterday morning from Puponga with coal. She returns this morning to loads for Picton. The Arapawa was expected to sail (and left at 6.30 p.m.) from Wellington for hero with general. She returns the same evening.
