In the Canterbury Derby, of 1000 soys., he defeated six others comfortably. In the Great Northern Derby, of 750 soys., he beat his three opponents pointless. That he was a brilliant sprinter as well as a good stayer he demonstrated in the Royal Stakes of 500 soys., at EHerslie, by carrying 9.2 and running six furlongs in lmin. 15 ,4-sth sees. As a four-year-old he was at the top of the tree. In the Jubilee Cup, of 600 soys., he beat Elevation at level weights in the fast time of lmin. 41 3-sth sec. His next success was in the Auckland "Jup, of 1750 soys., two miles, in which he carried 8.4 and beat a big field.
