CHARGES ON WOOL FROM HUNTERVILLE TO WELLINGTON.
(To the Editor). Sir, —Quite unintentionally, I feel sure, at the meeting re- Harbour matters on Monday night, Mr Bignell made a totally incorrect statement re the cost of sending wool from Hunterville t-i Wellington for shipment to London. In the course of his remarks Mr Bignell stated that it cost Id per bale less to send wool to Wellington by rail, than it did to send it via Wanganui: but this is not so, as wool sent via Wanganui costs the grower Gs 7d per hale as against Gs lid by rail direct from Hunterville to Wellington. It is only just to the port that this ought to be pointed out, and at th? same time to" let our country friend, see on what terms we can handle their wool, at any rate. —Yours faithfully, INTERESTED.
