Tho installation of j. vV. Bro. J. Anderson as VV.M. Lodge Rangitikei 38 for tho ensuing year took place- at Bulls this afternoon. Tho following officers wevo ulso invested: —I.P.M. Bro. F. The voting was very light in connection with tho poll at Feilding to-day. The weather was boisterous and cold, and only 214 ratepayers exercised their privilege. It was a close call for tho loan, tho majority in favour being only 12: For 111, against 9y, informal 4. The loan in question is for £35,000 for tarring and sanding the footpaths, for water extensions, and for road formation.

News has been received in Feilding of the weath in Dunedin of Mr Graham Shannon, eldest son of Mr G. V. Shannon, at the age of 42. The funeral takes place in Wellington on Friday. Through an explosion of dynamite on Saturday, two boys, the eons of Mrs Taylor, of Colyton, were very severely injured. The lads, who are aged six and eight years respectively, found in a shed a tin containing dynamite, and. thoughtless of the consequences, applied a match. The younger lad, who stood abovo the tin, received the full force of the explosion, but both sustained severe injuries. They were brought to Feilding to the home of Mrs Baker, their grandmother, and were attended by Dr Guthrio. It is not known yet whether the boys' sight will be affected.

Owing to wet weather, the Feilding bowling green was -not opened today, the ceremony having to be postponed.

There w-as a large attendance at the York Hotei last night, when it was decided to /form an (Amateur Athletic Club, as distinct from the Harriers Club. Mr Don. Fraser was in the chair. The officers elected were as follow:— Patron, Mr E. Goodbehere; president, Mr F. Pirani, senr. ; vice-presidents, Messrs Whitehouse, L. A. Elliott, D. Fraser, D. H. Guthne, M.P., and U. N. Giliesepie. Committeq: Messrs Jacobsen, Edensten, Fraser, Amadio, H. Chappell, Huntington, Murch, Davey, Pater&on; secretary, Mr C E. Browu; hon. treasurer, Mr J. Fisher. The subscription was fixed at 5s for over 18 Collingwood was appointed handicapand 2s 6d for under that age. Mr .;. per. The club colours chosen were red and black. The club's first donation was received from Mr I>. Fraser, one guinea. A vote of thanks was accorded him, and also Mr Amadio for his offer for coach the runners, the chairman remarking that it was through cluhs not having coaches that amateur running had deteriorated in New Zealand.

Mr C. S. Harris, who has filled the position of sbationmaster at Mangaweka for some time past, left yesterday afternoon to take up a position which means promotion in the Railway Department at Wanganui.
