INTERESTING FIGURES FROM THE BUDGET.

Tho Budget showed tho railway and tramway earnings for the year to be £8,872,860. Alter paying working expenses the net return on the capital invested is £1 10s 4d per centum. The deposits in tho Government Savings Bank have, increased by 2$ million. The total balance to the credit of the four hundred and thirty-five thousand depositors is £18,612,000. The estimates proposed an exnendituro on nublic works of a total "of £6,113.170, including £2,427,000 for new railways, duplications; and rolling stock. Tho Treasurer anticipates & difficulty in raising the loan money required, but has every confidence that he will be able to provide for six millions. Ho proposes to raise £200,000 by new taxation and from probato and stamp duties, and £70,000 from readjustment of the income tax.
Last t year 1734 buildings were completed in Sydney and suburbs at a cost of £4,495,017—a record.
The total overseas trade amounted to £59.504,829. an increase of £4,303,585. Tho excess of exports over imports was nearly five millions. The. Treasurer anticipated a decrea.so in tho wool clip owing to the drought but a satisfactory harvest.
