PRINCE GUSTAVE DIKRAN'S

ANTECEDENTS

MELBOURNE, Oct. 12. A flutter has been caused among Presbyterian leaders by the receiot°of cables throwing further doubt "on the •genuineness of the Albanian who has ■been accepted in America, New Zealnd and three States of Australia as Prince Gustavo Dikran, Emir of Albania. Dikran brought letters which looked all right, and ho was introduced by a clergyman, whose son, a clergyman 'a Suva, had met Dikran on his wav through to New Zealand. Dikran was accepted by the Presbytery of South Melbourne, and has been touring Victoria and South Australia raising money for a new medical mission, which, he states, ho is founding in Albania. 'He became engaged to the daughter of a well-known country Presbyterian. The Consul-General for' Turkey in Sydney has telegraphed to Adelaide clergymen that Dikran is not a Prince, and that he is not hiding from the Turks. Jnat message is supposed to be the result of inquiries in Europe. The Victorian Moderator, the Rev. v vS. Holland, has another messagesent from Beyrouth College, where Dikran says he graduated. Mr Holland wrote to Dr Blitz, head of the college ana asked him £o cable genuine or false' Ihe cable reads: "False, Blitz." The church leaders are convinced that Dikran is not a prince. Probably he graduated at Beyrouth. Dikran has and is believed to be in /Melbourne.
