LONDON, October 22. The Hon. Mackenzie and Mr. Taveraer wero present at the Navy League's Trafalgar Day banquet.
Sir George Reid proposed "The Immortal Memory of Nelson." The time had come, said Sir George, for Britain to bo relieved from tho burden of the defence of Eastern, Western, and Southern waters.* It was fair and reasonable to ask Britain td defend her own coasts and take a largo share in defending Imperial trade. Sir George detailed the Australian army iand navy, and said it would be a sad day when tho sea called in vain to the British race.

Speaking at the Trafalgar Day celebrations, Senator Pearce urged the necessity of the Mother Country and the Dominions acting together. With this object .the Federal Government was looking +o New Zealand, asking her to join and make the fleet unit in the Pacific larger and stronger.
