A Sydney cable announces the death : of Jb\ * Griffiths, a former champion ; wrestler, of New Zealand. Mr. C. O'Hara and Mr. D. Plowman, of this town, leave on Thursday via Wellington for a three months' tour of tho Australian States. Mr. James Kell, Inspector of the Bank of Australasia at Sydney, has been appointed deputy-Governor of tho Federal Bank. —Cable item. A private cable was received in Wellington last night announcing the death, in Sydney, of Mr E. J. Finch, late inspector "of the Bank of New South Wales foi New Zealand. i Mr Gordon L. Conrad, advance representative for the Plimmer-Denniston Dramatic Co., arrived in town yesterday to make arrangements for the company's -appearance in the Opera House Nov. 2nd "and 4th. Miss Fraser, who has accepted the position of lady principal of the proposed Presbyterian Ladies' College in Hawke's Bay, has arrived in New Zealand, and is at present at Havelock North. The Rev. A. Grant has returned from a visit to Wellington in the interests of the college. Mr Grant reports that his Wellington mission was most successful, and that he received one donation of £100.
