(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 17. At the instance of the Crown Prosecutor, the ease agaanst Margaret Parker, who is charged with sly-grog selling, in which two juries failed to agree, was ordered to stand over till next sitting-
MASTERTON, May 17. At the S.M. Court, Albert Duske was fined £20 and Lionel McCarthy £10 for keeping liquor for sale.
AUCKLAND, May 17. Mr Kettle, S.M., imposed no penalty, but made ian order for costs against Thompson Bros., grocers, for one partner being employed after 9 p.m. It was evidently tho intention of the Act that all but one partner should be regarded as shop assistants. It appeared strange to him that one partner could work while another could not. He thought there should be an exception in favour of partners. The inspector pointed out the difficulties which would arise where, say, five partners were employed.
