PARIS, April 28. An unsuccessful attempt was made to assassinate a man named Grand jean, who* is supposed to be the informant against Carouy. It is believed that Bonnot was the assailant.

The police surrounded an .isolated house at Chosyleru, in which were the bandits, who fired continuously, wounding several persons. Sappers bombarded the bouse and subsequently the police entered, finding Bonnot, who was seriously wounded, and Dubois, the owner oF the house, dead.

When the bandits were surrounded in a motor garage at eight o'clock in tho morning, they opened a sharp fusillade and kept tho police^ at bay. In tho early stages of the siego two of the police were seriously wounded. Hundreds of shots were exchanged.

A straw-ladon cai"t, with mattresses attached, was utilised as a shelter and Lacked towards the house, with strong armed forces behind it. Meanwhile the police were sheltering among trees and other cover, and dropping fire on the bandits.

Lieut. Fontan, of the Republican Guard, under the protection of the cart placed bombs. The first missed fire, but the second attempt .was successful, and the back wall fell. After the explosion shots were heard an. the house, and Lieut, Fontan dashed to the first floor. The Dolice followed.

Dubois was found dead, and Bonnet liad received a dozen wounds, two of which were mortal. 'He tried to shallow poison when the police seized him. The house was burnt. Tho crowd tried to lynch Bonnet, but the guard used the butts of their rifles, and several of the public wore injured. Bonnet died in the hospital. Dubois wsxs a notorious Russian anarchist, and the mob trampled on his body. There were 150,000 spectators to tho siege, which lasted for four hours. Bonnet, left va document declaring that the five .arrested were innocent, including Gouzy. Dubois' garage belonged to Fromentin, vn anarchist millionaire, and a close friend of Ferrcfr, who was executed at Barcelona. Fromentin devoted the bulk of his fortune to tho propagation of anarchist doctrines. •■
