(ir'er Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 10. The Government has decided to send ■twenty senior cadets to Canada in response to the invitation to compete at tho Canadian National Exhibition to bo held in Toronto. The 1912 competitions will consist of physical drill, drill, and. sohoting matches. Details will be published immediately on receipt from Canada. The Canadian authorities undertake to provide all transport by sea and rail, and to board •and lodge the cadets from the day of -embarkation to the day of disembarkation on their return to New Zealand. Tlio contingent will leave New Zealand In time to.-arrive in Toronto on or just before the 25th August next. A cadet to be eligible must pass a medical test; Sleight-from.sft. Gin. to /sft. 9in.; chest, ' relaxed, 31in. to 32iri., inflated 3j.in. ■to 35in.; 1G to 18 years; must have been an efficient cadet from the age of 14; smart at drill; a good shot; fit for ■competition and still serving. Ea.ch military district is to supply five senior *adets. An officer accustomed to senior ■cadets, .-preferably from one of the High Schools or Colleges,' will be selected to take charge of the contingent. Before proceeding to Canada the cadets-will be assembled in Wellington for.a morith for training. During their absence from liome, a part of each day will be devoted; to some school work similar to that which they would oe engaged in if attending a school or college, but this does not mean that selection is to be confined to schools and colleges. Uniforms for parades and exercises will be provided as follows:—One complete uniform for dress parades, one complete working uniform,, one Jersey and boots, also shirts and underclothing. Plain clothes will not be permitted. Cadets must wear uniformdurfng the whole period they aro ..absent."Tronj*,home. . There are four groups in each of the Four military districts. Each group will .provide one cadet, and each city group will select an additional cadet, making five from each military district. Tho office's commanding the districts will select the five cadets considered most to represent the district, and on t^e 30th May next will forward to 'liesuTtjuarters particulars of those selected- The consent of Barents or jmnrdiaus must bo given in writing before -any lad will be accepted into the contingent. Service with t-lic contingent will count as" qualifying service under the Defence Act.
