The Wanganui Trotting Club are to bo heartily congratulated on the suo■iiCe? w-hich attended their annual meeting oh Saturday and Monday. The weather was beautiful on Saturday, pud there was a very large attendance of th public, visitors hailin-' from all parts of New Zealand. The sport was of a particularly interest ig nature, t»'p trotting beinsc excellent. Owing v

to the press of holiday matter we cannot refer at length to the meeting, but we must make special mention of tbe excellent manner in which the secretarial duties wore caried out by Mr Selby Morton, while all the other active office-bearers acquitted themselves creditably. Oon both days the Garrison Band, under Conductor Wade, played excellent programmes. Afternoon tea wa sprovided by Dustin's, Ltd., while Mr Tom Nixon presided over the publican's booth. The totalisator was worked by Messrs Spriggens and Neylon, who handled £7-3€B for the meeting, £3951 being put through on the first day, and £3417 on the second. Following are the results of Saturday's trotting: —

Also started — Cottage Bell, Kitty, and Dappbny, 21sec; Benita, The Ganger, Miss Clarice, and Walter. D, 18sec; Madam Butterfly, Mangatini, and Owhyo, 15sec; F. E. Franz, 12sec; Pukekura^ ssec; and Mahurangi, scratch. There was considerable delay at the start, prior to which Real wood's sulky was damaged and he had to return to the paddock, taking no part in the race. Native Child led for the first six furlongs, when Master Ham, the favourite, took command, the two mentioned being a chain ahead of the next horse. Master Ham continued in the van, and eventually won easily by three lengths from Native Child, who was some 30 lengths ahead of Wild Maid. Pukekura trotted in fine 'style over the last half mile, but in the early stages did not show much pace. Time, 4min 13iec.

Rothschild Lad led for over a mile, when War Cloud, trotting in fine style, took command. Coming round the bend into the straight, Rothschild Lad closed up x>n -th-e leader, but just as everyone was expecting to witness an exciting finish between the pair, Rothschild Lad broke, and this left Warcloud to win by about four lengths, in the fast time of 3.51. Tiny Peri was a fair third.

Twelve faced the starter for the big event of the day—the Wanganui Cup—fox' which Glenidol was sent out favourite. Ellen Tracey was taken to the front at the start, but quickly gave way to Glenidol, and the latter was slightly ahead of Ellen Tracey then went ahead, and drawing away eventually won by several lengths with Grattan Chimes close up third. Gold Bell was never able to get near tbe long start horses, and finished the length of the straight behind the winner. Time, 5.6.
