. The Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting opened to-day. Rain fell during the morning, but cleared for the races, and, though the weather wa* wintry, there was a large attendance. His Excellency \ the Governor was present during the afternoon. The sum of £30,921 was invested on the machine, being an increase of £10,219J compared' with the same day last year, when, £20,070* was handled. R-esults: —
Tradesmen's Handicap.—A. Williams' Sir Artegal 1, Monoplane 2, Sea Elf 3. A lno started —Maxwell, Ngapuka. Master Jack, Fuss. Won by a length and a. half. Time. 2min. 10 3-ssee.
Brighton Hurdles. —Sandy Paul 1, Lloyds 2, Black Northern 3. Also started—Presently, Don Quex, Bully. Master Theory, Idealism. Won easily by six lengths, with Black Notrhern eight lengths away. Time, 3min. 48sec.
Great Northern Champagne Stakes.— Our King 1, Prince Soult 2, Tact 3. Also started —Monorail,' Semolina, Pukerangi, Haskayrie. Won by two lengths and a-half, the third horse being four lengths away. Time, Imin. 15sec. #ister Handicap.—Kakama 1, GeneLatour 2, Soultorki 3. Also started —rßoanerges, Doniino, Antoinette, Coromandel, Goldsize. Crown Pearl, St. Amans.
