BRITAIN'S NAVAL DEFENCE

Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright OTTAWA, Apri 17. Tho Quebec Chronicle states that it has been decided to treat naval defence on non-party lines. Tenders are to be immediately called for two super-Dread-nought cruisers. Meanwhile Canada will represent to Britain and the Dominions that naval autonomy is essential, and representation imperative. This can be met only by the creation of an Imperial squadron whereto Britain and her Dominions contributed, and to be controlled by a special Admiralty Board, whereon the contributors will be represented. It will also be pointed out that Canada's interests as a nation demand that" she similarly to America and the South American States, should be able to show hor flag in naval visits, which would play an important part in improving trade relations with other countries. Canadian-manned 'ships should protect ,'ier interests throughout the world.
