MR. ROBERTSON AT LEVIN.
Defends His No-Confidence Vote. (Per United Press Association.) LEVIN, April 6. Mr J. Robertson, M.P.. addressed the electors at Levin on Thursday evening. The hall was crowded, and some. oppoeition evidenced itself, but the bi£ maioritv of the meeting was favourably disposed, and though heated interjections were made occasionally, a good hearing was vouchsafed. Mr Robertson defended his vote on the no-confidence motion, claiming that when Sir Joseph Ward undertook that he would resign, and thus involved the resignation of his Cabinet also, hi.s (Mr Robertson h pre-election pledge was given effect to in it.-J full spirit, He himself had always aaid he would not be a supporter of Mr Massev, therefore he was fully justified in voting so as to keep Mr Massey on the Government benches, the more so as it was known that, if Sir Joseph Wardis Government was defeated, there would Ix"rats" from the Liberal Party, whose votes would have prevented Labour gettinor a chance to turn out Mr Massey. ' Amiclet cheers, a motion was carried that the meeting thank Mr Robertson for his address, and express tho opinion that he voted in Parliament in tho best interests of the Dominion.
