■CATIIO, January 24. Several armed bandits raided a rich contractor's house near Cairo, assaulted tha occupiers and stole much money aaid jewa'lery.
They fired on the mounted police,, who replied till their ammunition was exhansted, when the briga.nds escaped. The contractor is dead, and six inmates of tho hou.se are in a, precarious condition.
