40,037 MILES IN 4.4 WEEKS
The most remarkable record ever created in Great Britain on a motorcycle or any other road vehicle was established by Mr. Harry Long on 'a 3£ h.p. free engine ■ Triumph motor-cycle. Mr. Long started out on January 4th, 1911, Tiding in ail weathers, winter, spring, summer and autumn, he penetrated into every coTiier of the country and encircled the coast of Great Britain. The ride was purely a test for re- ! liability. Tho same Triumph motor was ' used throughout his ride. On November i 2nd, 1911. ten months after the start, ho had travelled 40,000 .miles, which, after allowing for thirty-five blank days, averages over 1000 miles per week. The Triumph Company were so proud of this performance that they exhibited this identical machine at the Olympia Shaw, and Mr. Long was in attendance to give any information of his remarkable ride. In New Zealand, J. Braithwaite, riding a Triumph, has just broken the Wellington-Palmerston-Napier motor record by two hours; time 6hrs. 3Smin., non-stop run, averaging 33 1-8 miles per hour. We are now unpacking 50 free-engine Triumphs, ex s.s. Arawa, which .have been on order over twelve months. Clients waiting for Triumphs should call at once, as the shipment will soon Ik> sold.
