MELBOURNE, December 9

Mr Fraser announced that, after protracted: negotiations, the Government were unable to arrive at a position juseither the marcotai or Telefunken wireless systems. The urgency of establishing a wireless system did not justify delaying! it any longer. It intended to erect stations round the coast,' beginning at Melbourne, then HSbart?, and also connect with Port Moresby,' either, at Cooktown or Thursday Island. The Government might be compelled to defend the system, which'woiild t be named the Commonwealth. Its expert ' would register it, and it it was found that it had infringed olher systems the Government would accept responsibility for tho payment of such infringement.
