MEETINGS.

There has been a good deal oj rowdyism at political meetings in the city or late, especially at meetings concerned with the license issue; but I think that rather too much has been made of it. Most of the rowdy ones are boys and hobbledehoys out for a night's fun at any price, and it is a mistake to build theories of organised disorder on the conduct of irresponsibles like that. .11 candidates and speakers had skill to hold their audiences, we should have precious little serious disorder. Most of tho speakers have no skill of that kind. They aro tedious and wordy, prosers without personal (magnetism; dullards. We have few really eloquent public men, and oratory is a lost art.
