(Per Press Association.") WELLINGTON, October 16. Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed," with a southerly tendency. Squally and showery weather has been imported, in many places to-day, and changeable conditions have prevailed. Tho barometric -gradient has decreased to-day, but conditions are still somewhat ominous. Present indications are for westerly to southerly winds, strong to gale, with squally and showery weather in most parts of the country. The barometer is very unsteady at present. 3tut will probably rise everywhere in •about 3& hours.
