Sir, —Few people T am sure are aware or the difficult job those supporting the Harbour Board Engineering Bill are having in Wellington, it being considtred that the county representatives ure stonewalling for all they are worth. This will in all probability mean the postponing of the Bill for this yeai, though it is to be hoped better counsels • >vill prevail. Still the attitude of the opponents, if such an impression is correct, is a contemptible action, and it is to-be hoped that the members of the committee will see through the "game," which will be the same game Rs will be again adopted next year if circumstances mean postponing the Bill. Wanganui has had an experience ot such a thing, and it is too risky. By tho way. who is the "Mr. Millward" who is one of the valiant "opponents" of the Bill? Surely he is not the onetinte progressive member of the Harbour Board! Few men more than Mr. Uillward, or at any rate the shipping company he represents, have received more benefit,.? from what little the Harbour Board have been able to do with vlio means at their disposal. I hone my impression is incorrect, but if I am right it is up to Mr. Millward to make an explanation.
