A CABMAN IN TROUBLE. !,; AUCKLAND^ October 3. ' At the Police Court this morning • a further development of the Kingsland mystery occurred, when a cabman named John Brooks appeared on | two charges of interfering with wit- j nesses of the Crown In the cases ■ against Mrs. O'Shaughnessy and J. E. J »-, Shaughnessy, Mary Hassell, Jane • Hartley, and Charlotte Campbell. The i nccused was charged with attempting: to persuade Minnie Whittingham to. give false evidence at the trial of < Martha Jane O'Shaughnessy for mur-; : der, and also, with attempting to per-' < suade Nellie Duggan to give false cvi- I dence in the Magistrate's Court on the hearing of the charges against i James E. O'Shaughnessy, Mary Has-j sell, Jane B. Tjartley, -and Charlotte Campbell; of being accessories after the fact, to murder. Brooks, who Is a bondsman for J*mes E.
