ADDRESS AT GORE
GORE, July 2
Sir Jas. Carroll gave a political address, at Gore on Saturday night. The meeting was largely attended. The Acting-Premier said he had been participating in the administration of their affairs for many years, but though absent in person his efforts had. not been confined to the North. He had done his'best in the interests of^both islands. He had bean in the House 20 years, and the whole* time he had been identified with the Liberal party, which still stood to-day as the progressive party, unexampled. The people should be proud of leading the world in advanced legislation. He referred to the Opposition criticism on Native Lands on the lines, of his Invercargill speech. \
Mr. Ngata explained the position of the Native Land Department. The meeting passed a motion of thanfcs and confidence in the Government.
