TIMARU HARBOUR MATTERS.

TIMARU, June 50
The Harbour Board has been of-fei-ed £600 per acre for 10% acres of land reclaimed by the harbour works, and required for railway yard purposes. It was agreed to accept the offer, subject to certain conditions of access to the foreshore from the existing streets. The Board's quarrymen applied for an increase of wages' from 8s to 9s per day. On the recommendation- of the engineer the Board increased the labourers' wages from 8s to 8s fid, and the quarrymen to 9s.
The fishermen ,of Timaru, who now use a score'or so of motor boats, applied to the Harbour Board for a special wharf for landing fish. The engineer recommended one, to cost, with crane and trolley rails, £480. The Board postponed decision in order to inquire whether the,. Railway Department will grant a siding for a fnli truck to the proposed wharf.
