ROLLER SKATING.
Judging by the large assemblage, mostly ladies, seen at'the Royal Rink last evening, and the welcome addition of a brass band, it is appai-ent that the very exhilarating pastime of skating is likely to bs -very; popular during the ne:;t few months. The new /management are'determined that the rink shall be 'conductetl on select lines, thus ensuring the .enjojr ment of everyone. A, g)-ana fancy-dress carnival is to be held shortly. It is the r intention of the new management to hold one special night once a week.' Saturday morning will'in future b» set apart for ladies and children 0n1y..,'. ~
Readers Avill not forget the temperance rally to-night at" St. Paul's schoolworn, 'when, besides items to bo rendered by members of the Bands of Hope, addresses will be given by Revs. J. D. McKenzie and S. Bailey. The object of the gathering will commend itself to every temperance sympathiser and a very large attendance is expected. ■ : "
