The decorations and illuminations in preparation for the Coronation are king completed. Many banks, insurance companies, and clubs ai"e spending £500 each. The Westminster City .Council is spending £'IO,OCO. on the decoration o'l Whitehall, including the transplanting of the electric standards -n 0.-der not to obstruct the procession. Whitehall is being decorated with columns 35ft. high, carrying portcullis -Mid giiffihs, and winged "Vietorys, carrying the shields of British Kings. t Near the New Zealand Arch the Provfnce of Ontafia-. has erected handsome pylons, showing a farmer shearing his sheep and the word "Prosperity" with the. horn of plenty] Fleet Street is depoi-atol with wreathed masts carrying festoons am! evergreens, with alternate lions and unicorns. - The newspaper, offices have gone in for particularly elaborate decorations and illuminations. St. Paul's Churchyard is decora tod with the shields and banners of patron saints of the -United" Kingdom "and'the City.' Huge' fllower-bells are hung in Cheapside, recalling Bow Bells. . The Bank of England is nitliniiig its columns and roof with arciji.tpotuval lines, and with 5,0C0, lamps: House >will be similarly outlined with' amber and green lights. Mansion House Square is decorated with .Corinthian columns; bearing giiffbis, and the business houses of the city are decorated with crystal crowns, and Iloyal monographs, some costing £200 each: There is a b.eaiytifullaburnanv colon r-seheiae in King William Street, loading to London Bridge, where an elaborate scheme of lattice pilasters are connected by festoons of purple wistaria.
