APPLICATION FOR TISCHARGE.

Mr. Borlase,. on -behalf of J. D. Proud, applied for .a discharge from bankruptcy. The application was opposed by Mr. Treadwell, who appeared for Messrs. J. A. Smythe, D. Urqdhart and H. H. Thompson, and Mr. C. C. Hutton: 6ri behalf of the Official Assigneee. ' \

The evidence of the bankrupt, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Smythe, and Mr. Louis Cohen was taken, after which His Honour said that apparently bankrupt had started a venture in sawmilling without any capital, and bad. come to grief. He therefore suspended his discharge for two years.

The Court then adjourned till 9.30 this morning, and will >it till- 11 o'clock.
