C^tleciiff' Hotel be -notified that the drain across' Bryce: Street would require to be lowered, in' order that the re-grading of the streev might be carried out, and that tht, foreman had been instructed to relay the drain as necessary. Culvei't.—A reply was received from i-hq Castlecl iff Railway Co. stating that as they had already provided the culvert at present in use at the foot or WOOll Street, near Castle Terrace, the.y Ytere not prepared to provide a second, but were- quite willing, if the Board wished to carry off the waters in that locality, to grant permission to put *v culvert.. under the line, into the river, at the Board's expense.—Received. Fencing.—The Department of Lands I wrote in reply to the effect that the iratters o ffencing reserves in. Cross ! Street would receive consideration.— I Received. ' " Hospital Levy.—The Wahganui Hos- ) ital and Charitable Aid Board notified that it had been decided to levy a rate of 5s M per £1,000 on the capital value=, the contribution required froirf the Board being £20 9s lid. Coronation.—A letter was read from the Wanganui Borough Council asking that tho Board would unite with others local bodies in celebrating tho Coronation, the cost incurred to be contri--1 uted on a population basis.-*-It was decided to agreo to the proposals. Foreman's Report.—Tho foreman reported that the roads throughout to district were generally in fair order. The formation and claying of Cross ana Watt Streets were well in hand, but work had been delayed by bad weather. The widening of the Heads Road fiom Scott's Bridge on the north side was in progress. It was recommended that culverts be placed in front of the public hall and post office.—The report was received, and it was decided to give effect to the recommendations. Engineer's Report.-—The Engineer reported that tho surveying and laying out of Tod Street and adjoining road lines was in hand. The whole of one building and part of another, belonging to the Freezing Co. was found to be on tho roadway, and would require to bo el lifted, in order to form the street to the full width of 66ft.—It was decided to notify the Freezing Co. that the Board intends forming Tod Street, and that the buildings abutting on the roadway would have to be moved back to within the proper boundary. Estimates.—Tho Town Clerk presented the statement of estimated receipts ' and .expenditure for tho current year. i —Adopted. ! General Rate.—A resolution was passed giving notice of the Board's intention to levy the usual general rate of Id in the £ on the capital value. ■ Hall.—On the motion of Commission- > lor S+'ott it was decided that tho Fin- ! aico Committee were requested to approach the representatives of the Castled iff Hall Committee to discuss the qiTestion of the control of the Hall being handed over to the Town Board, ami to report at next meeting. Drainage.—Comrs. MoDougall and Sootfc be appointed a special committee to confer with the owners of the swamp lands on the matter of drainage. .Accounts.—Aecoxints amounting to ;f]s's 6s 5d were passed for payment.
