LONDON WOOL MARKET REPORT.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received tho following report, dated 10th February, 1911:— 1 Coleman Street, E.C. Wool. —Tho first series of sales which opened here en 17th January terminatid on the 7th inst., of the available quantity 181,000 bake having been sold, of which 66,000 bales were taken for the Continent, and 4000 bales for America, whilst 17,000 bales remain on hand. Thct market for Merino, particularly for good greasy combing1, continued firm to the close, but the improvement iii^ crossbred noted in tho second week^was not maintained. Direct American purchases of the latter were practically confined to the best lots of medium quality, but it is understood that a considerable portion of the quantity taken by Yorkshire operators will be \ised to satisfy United States orders for "cased" wool. At the close the position as compared with the clcse of the Decembeir sales was as follows :—• Greasy merino, super, par; greasy merino, medium, par to 5 p>ar cent, lower; greasy merino, inferior qualit3r, 5 per cent, lower; scoured merino, super and medium, 5 per cent, lower; scoured merino, inferior and faulty, o to 7j pea- cent, lower; greasy crossbred, line, par to 5 per cent, lower; greasy crossbred, medium . and coarse, 71 to 10 per cent, lower; scoured cross- ' bred, fine, par; scoured crossbred, medium and coarse, 5 per cent, lower; slipo crossbred, 6 per - cent, lower: lambi' merino, and crossbred, about par.
