ing with the question of Asiatic immigration to South Africa.

I Earl Crey.-.e,is a dispatch da';<ed October 7, stated .that proscription by Act of Parliament of the inhabitants of other parts of the Empire was open to grave objection, but the Government fully recognised the riglit of a selfgoverning community to choose the elements of which it should be constituted. Lord Crewe added that the Government only asked that emigrants be nott subjected to unnecessary humiliation.

Lord Gladstone replied that the Smith African Government was anxious ia meet the difficulty.
