Corby, who set a. slower stroke: tliroughout thel race, closed lip slightly before the mile p-so was reached, but on turning the l>3iid for home, Sharpe had established a lead of a clear length. iVcnring the stone groyn-e, Corby again moved up and drew almost level. His effort, however, proved too much for his men, and Sharps drew away •again. At Ingestrc Street Sharpe was leading by over a length,- and going on. won by ab:mt two lengths. Corby's final effort was very fine indeed, but the winning cr-ew had too much in hand, and won fairly comfortably. The winning crow consisted: of H. Sharpo (stroke), A. Yarrow (3), A Flynn (2), C. Annabe-11 (bow). The 'runners up for tho Shield were D. Corby (stroke-), J. Yarrow (3), N. Bond 4 (2), K. Croty (bow).
