Tho speakers at" the coal lumpers' . picnic strongly advocated amalgamating all existing Unions inside a universal Union, the trade sections to have power in exclusive matters. The president of the Labour Council, Mr Farrar, urged that the selling prices of commodities be fixed by law during the -currency of agreements, in order that an increase in wages should not .be swamped by- raising the cost of living. This is generally .approved.
