GARRISON BAND CONCERT.

In another column will be found the programme for the recital to be given by the Garrison Band in the Opera House on Sunday evening. It will be seen that a splendid programme has been arranged, and the Opera House will doubtless be crowded to -the-doors, as immense interest is taken by the general public in the band's progress. Tho chief attraction at this recital will be tho grand contest selection "Valkyrie," especially arranged for the Besses o' the Barn Band by Mr A. Owen, and selected by Conductor Wade as the band's own choice piece for the Ballarat contest. Though tins, selection is without question the most difficult yet attempted by the band, yet those capable of judging consider that the band has made great progress 'with it, and should be able to give a magnificent performance. By special request the band will also play a selection from "Maritana," containing the frems from that well-known and popular opera. Tho concert is advertised to-commence at 8.30 o'clock.
