WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE.
MR, LLOYD GEORGE EXPLAINS
HIS ATTITUDE
(United Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, August 12.
The Right Hon. Lloyd George, addressing a Carnarvon Women's Liberal Association meeting, justified his vote against Woman's Suffrage, and declared it undemocratic. The Bill would give a vote to every woman with property but barely a tenth of the working women had any. He and Mr Winston Churchill were denounced as traitors to the women's cause because they did not support the measure, which the Suffragists of Australia and New Zealand would scornfully reject. He doubted if the women really wanted the franchise. The settlement of the question as to the power of the House of Lords and the Welsh disestablishment question were paramount. Afterwards Democratic Suffrage would have his whole-hearted support. The political weather was a little uncertain. He advised the Liberals to carry their macintoshes.
