THE DIRTIEST TRAIN.

I head heard about it, but I didn't believe. It seemed to me that the report was altogether exaggerated. But now I know. The Rotorua express is the dirtiest train on earth. It may not bo always dirty, it may merely get dirty in transit] I don't know; I can only speak of the things I saw. We joined the Rotorua express at Hamilton, and went into Auckland by it. We found an empty first-class carriage, and I'll guarantee that the dust lay a sixteenth of an inch thick over everything. I have seen dirty trains in Bengall, but never any so dirty as that. It was dirtier than an Auckland tram. It was dirtier than a horse-sale. If you had sprinkled it with water, you could have grown cress all over it. I don't suppose that I shall ever see its dike again. I don't want to.
