CAPTURE OF THE MURDERERS

BRISBANE. January 5. Mr. Woodford, Commissioner of the Solomon Islands, recently proceeded to Bagga to inquire into the massacre of Binskin's family by the Sitos gang. A force of 200 native police under white officers, landed and" scoured the island without success. Great difficulty was experienced in securing the cooperation of the local coastal natives, and-the Commissioner announced his intention to remove all neutral natives to another island unless they cooperatocl. Several natives believed to be in communication with Sito, were detained. Finally others decided to help the (Government, and the. island was thoroughly searched for three weeks, resulting in the capture of Tongava, the actual murdered of Mrs Bin skin and the younger child, and the death of three others of Togava's family. In addition 16 prisoners were taken" Several of Sito's party were killed while resisting capture. Sito is reported to oave been oaptured in a neighbouring island.
On October 29 a tragedy was reported from the Solomon Islands, a band of natives attacking the station of Captain Joe Binskin, a well-known trader, and massacring his native wife and four young children, also three natives attached to the station.
