WANGANUI SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Wangahui School Committee's Association was held on Saturday-evening in the Borough Council Chambers* Mr W, Bruce was in the ohair.

Correspondence was received from the Otago and Canterbury School Committees' Associations and from the Education Department. ,

It was suggested that a general conference of the committees should be held hero at next show, time, and the various committees are to be circularised. The purpose of the conference is^ to discuss educational matters, among" them being the mode oi appointment of teachers. It was pointed out that this was the only Board which appointed teachers under the powers of the transfer. The Otago Board had only in two cases appointed two * teachers' in this manner, and even these cases had been fully confirmed by "the School Committee The question of uniform school books was left in the hands of the chairman to confer with the inspectors and report. The Secretary (Mr N. G. Armstrong) said that owing to pressure of work he was compelled, to resign. Mr Luxford, of Aramoho, was appointed in his stead-:
