(Per Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, July 1
At the Educational Conference this morning Mr Parr (chairman of the Board of Education), said the members of the Board did not wish it to go forth that they concurred in the resolution passed that tlio syllabus was an excel-lent-one. The question what were compulsory subjects and what were not so was so complicated .'that it seemed time the whole syliabxi^' went into the melting pot. After the disastrous results of the Sixth Standard examination in commercial geography the Board intended tohave that, subject properly taught in future. '
A motion was jca'Tfied, with two dissentients, that.thjS principle of the right of teachers to make ,a reasonable selection from tli6.syllabus is not adequately recognised in this'district.
