OHAKUNE NOTES.

OHAKUNE, June 30
The adjourned meeting of the Ohakuno Town Board was held in the Town Hall last night. Present —Crs. A thy (chair), Quinn, Wilkie, Dette, and the Town Clerk.
Proposed by Ci\ Quinn, seconded by Cr. Wilkie —That all the available reserves and sections vested in the Board be leased by public tender, the highest or any tender being not necessarily accepted, the above not to include sections 3 and 10 of Block Vlll.—Carried.
A letter was received from the Railway Department, stating that as the Department had already made arrangements to light the Ohakune station with acetelyne gas they would not require electric light from the Board. —Received.
From tlie Commissioner of Crown Lands re the reserves at the station, and asking the Board not to lease same. The Board had already replied that it had no intention of leasing the land. The meeting then adjourned, and an extraordinary'meeting was held to deal with a special resolution re the by-laws and the striking of a rate. Proposed by Cr. Wilkie. seconded by Cr. Quinn—That a general rate of 2id in the £ be levied. —Carried. A special resolution was then passed as follows:—"That no person shall drive any horso (other than a horse attached to "a vehicle) along any road or street within the Ohakune Town District, but the same shall be lead and not driven." —Carried.
