AT MASTERTON.
MASTERTON, June 30.
Masterton has run dry and the closing of tho hotels this evening.was the signal tor a demonstration in the streets just before .10 o'clock. Several hundreds of men. arid women lined the streets in anticipation of there being some fun. but beyond considerable cheering, hooting, and yelling and singing (principally of "Auld Lang Syne") and a .good deal of harmless horseplay, there was nothing serious. About 1i.30 the crowd gradually melted away and all was quiet.
