ANNUAL BANQUET.

The annual banquet of the .Trinity Young Men's Institute was held on. Thursday evening in the Institute's gymnasium .-The'tables were, crowded, and a most successful re-union resulted. The Rev. J. A. Luxford, patron of the T.Y.M.1., presided, arid was supported by Mr M. Spurdle (president), the Rev. Chappell (organising secretary of the Wesleyan Young People's movement),the Rev. Patchett (Aramoho), Messrs J. Jones (Mayor of Wanganui East), H. J. ! Caddy (vice-president); J. F. Holloway, I'L. Young (secretary), arid F. Lane (treasurer). Apologies for absence were received from the following old members:—Messrs Q. H. Poole, M.P., J. T. Hogan, M.P., M. Goldsbury, W. Olliver. L. Townsend. ', After full justice had been done to ; the good things provided by Messrs Cutelli and James, a toast list was gone through, interspersed with songs by the .vinembers.' "Success to the T.Y.M.1." •was proposed in an excellent speech by Mr, W. J. Andrew, afid responded to by Mr .M. Spurdle and by Mr W. LeeMartin on behalf of the old members. The next toast was that of "Kindred Institutions," proposed by Mr L. Young and responded to by Messrs A. Dunkley (C.C.C.), G. Horsley (Baptist), G. Cole (Primitive Methoflist); and Flynn- (Church of Clirist). J The next business was the presentation "to the late secretary, tMr H. J. McNaughton, of a dressing-case, as a mark of the esteem ill which he was held by members, and in recognition of his valuable services. j ' "Tlie 'Young People's Movement." coupled with the name of the organising secretary (the Rev. Chappell), was next proposed by Mr W. Smith. The Rev. Chappell suitably replied. : Other toasts were, "The Wanganui District," proposed by the chairman and responded to by Messrs J. Jones, J. F. Holloway, and W. N. Willis;-"Mr F. M. Spurdle, senr., (an old friend of the T.Y.M.1.), and Mrs Spurdle," proposed !by Mr J. Jones, and responded to by Mr M. Spurdle; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr C. Taylor, arid responded to by Mr:W. N. Willis; "The Press," proposed by Mr W. McElwain, and responded to by the press representatives present.
