WELLINGTON, June 17. The Prime Minister informed the press last night that during his absence the Hon. James Carroll will be acting Prime Minister and will adnrnister in addition to his preset departments, the Government Insurance and the Public Trust Offices. .

The Hon. J. A. Millar, in addition to his present departments, wjll be acting Minister of Finance and will also hold the portfolio of Labour, as well as having the administration of the Government printing office. The Hon. Gen. Fowlds takes the portfolio of Minister of Ctistoms and will be acting Minister of Defence. The Hon. Dr Findlay will be acting Postmaster-General and Minister of Telegraphs. . The Hon. D. Buddo will be ach'ng Minister of Lands and will also administer the Lands for Settlement Act.

' The Hon. R. McKenzie will be Minister in charge of roads and bridges.
