(Westralia) declared that the "overseas unisities were moulded on the lines of Oxford and Cainbi-idge. Etence they, had drawn inspiration.: which ,had. jnade the colonial . universities formidable rivals of the old seats of learning. . The colonies had been/drawn in a special manner, closer to Oxford by the Rhodes' bequest. -The colonies were unable to recognise that Oxford University was the property of Oxford. It was rather the possession of the whole Empire
