VIOLENT EARTHQUAKES IN FRANCE.
AN ALARMING EXPERIENCE

Six places were plunged into darkness owing to the failure of the electric light. '
The entire population of the town stayed outdoors till the dawn.
Houses '-collapsed iri several towns, and there were a few fatalities. Ships at Toulon strained ..: at their cables. '■'■ ..-■';.
