A DENIAL.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—Mr Muir, in his letter to you in this morning's issue, refers to the proposal brought forward by Mr Mackay to have workmen's trams when the two new cars are 'ready. In doing so, he refers to mo as .having opposed Mr Mackay's proposal, declaring "even the workers' only endorsed candidate (Mr Grey) is opposed to it." I give every credit to Mr Muir for being straightforward and above mi representation, but regret to state he is quite wrong, and has evidently* been misinformed. I am decided.ly in favour of running workmen's trams when tho sx cars are ready, and-will, if elected, vote in that direction if the proposal is brought forward. Regretting the necessity to have to correct Mr Muir.—l am, etc., WALTER GREY.
