Notes by "Cicero."

Union debate to-night in Christ Church "school-room between Koanga and Socialists. Koanga is practically a new team, with the exception of Marshall, who has debated with the T.Y.M.I. before. Tho others, however, are keen and promising debaters. Socialists suffered defeat in the first debate, but after having their faults pointed out to them should acquit themselves creditably in their next debates. St. Paul's have not been able to get a team together yet, but hope to come out for the next debate against Christ j Church Club. They have lost the services of Mr S. Kernohan, who has thrown in his lot with Christ Church. I would like to see St. Paul's on the platform again. T.Y.M.I. have entered two teams this year. Their B team is a strong combination, Avith such men as C. Taylor (leader), J. Brine, and Lee-Martin, and should make a name for themselves this season. The A team has not debated yet. Christ Church Club are strong this year, their team being nearly the same as last season's, and in my opinion will take a lot of beating. Baptists are a new club, and acci nitted themselves very favourably in their first debate, only being beaten by a few points by C.C.C. . Koanea (affirmative) will be represented by Marshall (leader). Sherriff, . Webley. and Atkinson. Socialists (negative) will consist of W. Grey (leader), ' Colonna, Orr, and H. Archer.
