TRANSFER OF PRISONERS

CHRISTCHURCH, April 16

Fourteen prisoners were transferred from the Hokitika Gaol, now to be closed, to the Lyttelton Gaol this afternoon. The men, who were taken in a special carriage ffbm Hokitika to Otira, a special coach from Otira to Broken River, and a special train to Lyttelton, in charge of an escort of police and warders, behaved in an exemplary manner.
