HALCOMBE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
An exciting cricket' match, Town v. Foresters, was played here on Wednesday afternoon, Town proving victorious by the narrow margin of two runs. A return match will be played next Wednesday. '
A sharp earthquake was felt here on Friday afternoon at 1.25 p.m. The Halcombe Debating Society will hold their first meeting on Wednesday night next, and vwill reproduce the farce "Turn him out." A large attendance is anticipated.
Mr Henry Cornfoot, accompanied by his wife and children, left here last Thursday on an extended tour to the Continent and the Old "Country. We lTeartily wish them bon voyage and will gladly welcome them on their return. A wedding of peculiar interest to Halcombe took place last Tuesday at Colyton, when Miss Flossie Clapham was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to, Mr Robert Henry Faulkner Travers» of Wairoa.. Te Kuiti. We wish the young couple every happiness and prosperity. Our cricket team journeyed to Cheltenham on Saturday to pay the last Cup match and, I grieve to state, sustained a serious defeat, but, taking things into consideration, I must say that Halcombe has covered herself with x glory in emerging at last from many years of seclusion arid''that next season sho will prove herself no mean adversary at the good old game.
