THE NEW ALPINE MINE

Special to "Chronicle."

By Telegraph. GREYMOTJTH, March 29. The secretary reports for the week ending 23rd March the following progress at the mine:—North stopes : In No. 1 stope, going north, there is an average of 2ft. 6in. of solid stone; in No. 2 stope, going south, there is an average of sft. 6in. of solid reef going overhead, and in the face will average sft. Suth stopes: In-No. 2 stope we have from 3ft. 6in. to 4ft. clean stone; this stope is not connected with the north stope yet, but will be in a dayor two; in raising No .3 stope there is 4ft. of reef. Ninety-eight tons were delivered at the battery for the week, making a total tonnage of 165 tons to date.
